TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Police investigators have named Senior Commissioner Yulius Bambang Karyoto a suspect in an alleged drug case.
"Yes, his status has been identified as a suspect," said the Jakarta Metro Police Chief of Public Relations Sr. Commissioner Endra Zulpan as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, January 11.
The sanction on drugs is referred to in Article 114 Paragraph (1) a subsidiary of Article 112 Paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 132 Paragraph (1) a subsidiary of Article 116 paragraph (1) a subsidiary of Article 127 Paragraph (1) letter A Republic of Indonesia Law Number: 35 of 2009 about Narcotics.
Directorate Investigators from the Narcotic Research Division of Jakarta Metro Police arrested Yulius on Friday afternoon, January 6, at a hotel in North Jakarta.
During the arrest, the officers secured evidence of two small bags of methamphetamine, each weighing about 0.5 and 0.6 grams.
Sr. Commissioner Yulius Bambang Karyoto previously served as Director of the Water Police (Dirpolair) in Papua and currently serves at the National Police Security Maintenance Agency (Baharkam). He is serving as head of the sub-Directorate of Facilities, Maintenance, and Repair of the Directorate of Water and Air Police Corps of the Police Maintenance and Security Agency.
Meanwhile, the Director of Narcotics Research at Metro Jaya Police, Sr. Commissioner Mukti Juharsa, emphasized that the alleged case on a drug by Yulius had nothing to do with the case involving the former West Sumatra Regional Police, Inspector General Teddy Minahasa.
"It has nothing to do with Teddy Minahasa. This is a standalone case," said Mukti.
He also ensured that Jakarta Metro Police would thoroughly investigate the drug case involving Yulius Bambang according to directions from Jakarta Police Chief Inspector General Fadil Imran.
