TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Transportation Ministry’s director general of railways M. Risal Wasal on Tuesday acknowledged the evaluation report on the operations of Greater Jakarta LRT (light rail transport), which was initially scheduled to be operable on August 2022 but has seen the deadline backtracked to June 2023.
The evaluation was conducted by British railway consultant Crossrail International.
“The consultant had just arrived and proposed suggestions on the LRT. The fixes which we have implemented,” said Risal at the Transportation Ministry in Central Jakarta on December 27.
Risal did not go into the details of what parts had been repaired and only said that the improvements were made to make the LRT technology system as it should be.
The evaluation report from Crossrail International Ltd was collected in an expert review report entitled "Operation Readiness of LRT Jabodebek" which addressed the Ministry’s Directorate General of Railways.
From the copy obtained by Koran Tempo, the British contractor summarizes the findings of the problem in four parts of the report. One of the issues raised by Crossrail is the unpreparedness of the Greater Jakarta LRT depot in Bekasi Regency, West Java.
