TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Bogor City Police planned to apply traffic engineering during the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays. The policy was taken to anticipate a sharp increase in vehicle volume on a number of city roads, particularly in tourist locations such as the Bogor Botanical Gardens (KRB).
"KRB is one of the main destinations during the Christmas holidays. Last year, there was a surge of 20,000 visitors, so we will anticipate people visiting KRB," said the Head of Bogor Traffic Police Comr. Galih Apria, quoted from the Police's Traffic Management Center (TMC) website on Friday, December 9, 2022.
Regarding the traffic engineering that will be implemented, Galih said it will depend on the traffic situation. This is only aimed at easing the traffic heading to tourist attractions.
The odd-even traffic system may also be applied on Christmas holidays during heavy traffic hours, such as on weekends. "Odd-even policy [will be enforced] during Christmas and New Year, especially at the two toll exits of Bogor; the Bogor Toll exit and BORR Toll exit," Galih explained.
The police will pay close attention to the traffic during Christmas and New Year holidays given that this moment is expected to bring a surge in mass crowds. People are also asked to be careful when enjoying the year-end holiday.
