Indonesia, Sweden Partners in Green Sustainable Cooperation

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In commemorating 72 years of bilateral relations between Indonesia and Sweden, the third annual event of the Sweden-Indonesia sustainability partnership (SISP) 2022 is filled with an appeal to prompt sustainable cooperation to a green and eco-friendly industry, on the event that unfolds, the conference provides approaches in the capacity on sustainable goals within the various sectors, especially transportation.
Sweden Minister for Infrastructure and Housing, Andreas Carlson, spoke about his home country of Sweden, specifically in the government and private sectors of the industries that commit to contributing to a sustainability transition to tackle the climate situation. The area of transportation has immense potential for smart sustainability to a greener change. As the world grew and the population turn the world dense, the usage of transportation increased. Fossil fuel-based vehicles are still manufactured and have induced challenges in the approach to sustainable goals. "Electricity provides a 25% share of greenhouse gas emission, greatly less than petroleum-based transportation, therefore it is needed in our bilateral cooperation to increase organization and smart transportation for the climate situation," said Carlson.
Director General of Sea Transportation, Arif Toha Tjahjagama in representing the Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi who isn't present in the seminar, have given an interest in Strengthening relations and creating a sustainable goal for an environmental society and economy. In the approach to an eco-friendly transportation system, he and others present in the seminar propose a mass rapid transition in electrifying transportation, Jakarta’s provincial government has dedicated to producing electric buses for Transjakarta and to commit in a full transition to all bus fleets (>10,000) into electric by 2030.
"Hope it encourages all stakeholders for a common understanding that could lead to a prolonged collaboration with transition in transportation to continue to maintain our endeavour for sustainable goal," said Arif Toha.
As the demand for sustainability increases, the collaboration of Indonesia and Sweden in SISP 2022 provides three pillars of support, which are financial, capacity building, and technology. To strengthen the commitment to sustainability, a signing cooperation was conducted between Transjakarta and Swedfund, the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between PT Kereta Api Indonesia and the SKF manufacturing company, and the C2C cooperation agreement during the opening of SISP between Pidi 4.0, SKF, Ericsson, Hexagon.
The annual Sweden-Indonesia Sustainability Partnership is conducted on December 5th - 6th, the collaborations summit is focusing on sustainability progress in various sectors of mobility, industry, healthcare, and energy, attended by the Embassy of Sweden in Indonesia along with 23 companies present as partners and exhibitors.
