Tornado Hits Bogor, Damages 18 Buildings and Blocking Road Access

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bogor Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) recorded that 18 buildings were damaged by a tornado in Ciampea District, Bogor. BPBD's head for emergency and logistics, Aris Nurjatmiko, said the damaged buildings consisted of 16 residents' houses, one villa, and one fishing pond.
"Yesterday, Sunday (4/12) monitoring activities have been carried out at several locations affected by relatively high intensity of rainfall accompanied by strong winds or tornadoes," said Aris on Monday, December 5, 2022.
The damaged buildings, fortunately, did not cause any casualties, according to Aris. However, the agency is still calculating material losses caused by the tornado. "Material losses are still being assessed. It cannot be estimated yet," Aris added.
Tornado Knock Down Trees
The tornado that hit Tegalwaru Village and Cibanteng Village, Aris added, also caused knocked down two trees. Consequently, the road in Kampung Cikawang, Tegalwaru Village was temporarily blocked.
Aris explained that Bogor BPBD officers along with the village administrations and surrounding communities handled damaged buildings and fallen trees. The agency also coordinated with state-owned electricity company PLN to clear out the fallen trees on Jalan Raya Cinangneng, Cibanteng Village, as they were entangled in power cables and hit an electricity pole.
