TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi has established an agreement with US President Joe Biden to develop electric vehicles, as a follow-up to the G20 Summit last month in Bali. Fossil-based electric vehicles will be developed through the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP), with an investment worth of US$20 billion or around Rp308 trillion.

Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko confirmed the report during a meeting with US Ambassador to Indonesia Sung Y. Kim in Jakarta, Friday, December 2.

"This investment commitment must be followed up quickly. For this reason, the meeting with the United States Ambassador today is very important," he said as reported by Antara.

Previously, President Widodo had asked his ministers to form a task force to follow up on the agreement at the G20 Summit. Moeldoko confirmed that he would monitor Jokowi's directions.

"The meeting with the United States Ambassador was in line with the President's direction to form a task force at the ministry to immediately follow up on various agreements in the G20, so that so that G20 meeting becomes the focus and implementation," he said.

Furthermore, Moeldoko said that the meeting with the US Ambassador is very important to strengthen mutually-beneficial relations between the two nations in a variety of fields.
