TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s e-commerce firm Bukalapak stated that it does not rule out the possibility of expanding its business to South Korea after naming South Korean actor Song Joong Ki as ambassador.
“It is possible,” said the company’s SVP Marketing Kurnia Rosyada to reporters at the Jakarta International Expo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, Sunday evening, November 27, 2022.
He said that at present, the publicly listed e-commerce firm is open to the potential for industrial development. “In line with the mission of the Bukalapak Group that we are all commerce, so we also have lots of new vertical brands,” Kurnia said.
Bukalapak's New Vertical Brands
The company has already launched new vertical brands including gaming with itemku and lapakgaming. “Then, we also have a platform for new collectibles, such as itemX. There are also e-groceries, namely Kingkong King and AlloFresh,” he outlined.
He thus said that the group would always create innovation, “especially for industrial matters that we really believe will develop.”
Song Joong Ki as Brand Ambassador
Traded under the ticker BUKA at Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), Bukalapak proudly introduced renowned South Korean actor Song Joong Ki as its brand ambassador early this year.
“Because we believe Song Joong Ki has indeed a lot of fans and is quite famous in the world, not only in Indonesia. His profile also fits with what we are looking for,” Kurnia said, hoping that the partnership would lure more customers.
