TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - On the commemoration of National Teacher's Day (HGN), Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Nadiem Makarim urged teachers to continue to innovate.
"The theme for the 2022 HGN is Simultaneously Innovating to Realize Independent Learning, which is inspired by the enthusiasm of teachers," Makarim stated at the HGN commemoration here, Saturday.
The minister noted that through Independent Learning, teachers in Indonesia are now motivated to bring innovation in learning and initiate a change in their school environment. The minister urged teachers in Indonesia to be more passionate in the field of innovation.
"The Independent Learning Program that we have been working on together for the past three years must become bigger, and the benefits must be felt by all students, all teachers, and all schools throughout Indonesia. Our courage to innovate must be further enhanced as a provision for us to leap into the future," he emphasized.
Makarim explained that the Indonesian education system is entering a new phase. Currently, the Independent Curriculum provides much greater flexibility in which teachers can develop creative projects for more enjoyable learning.
Moreover, the ministry provided a Teacher Mobilization Education Program that prepared educators to become the next generation of learning leaders.
"There are 50,000 Mobilization Teachers spread throughout Indonesia that are now ready to become school principals and supervisors, with a high sense of leadership and dedication. I ask the head of the education service to support the mechanism in the field," he remarked.
In addition, the ministry provides the Independent Teaching Platform where more than 1.6 million teachers throughout Indonesia are connected to learn from each other and share their knowledge.
"All of these could happen because of our mutual cooperation. Thanks to the teachers' courage for working and innovating, now the Independent Learning program can start becoming a movement," the minister said.
He also affirmed that efforts to present learning transformation must be supported by an improvement in teachers' welfare. Through the Civil Servants State Civil Apparatus with Employment Agreement (ASN PPPK) program, hundreds of thousands of teachers, who have served for years as honorary teachers, will be getting better placements and welfare.
Nadiem Makarim said that the Independent Learning Movement, which has been running for the last three years, must be able to bring benefits to all students, all teachers, and all schools throughout Indonesia.
