Cianjur Earthquake Update: Rescuers Found 17 Missing Person

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Search and Rescue Agency succeeded in evacuating 17 of the 39 victims of the Cianjur earthquake who were missing, buried by landslides. They were found in two different locations, the Shinta Sate stall, and Cijedil Village.
"As of 15:35, the search and rescue team succeeded in evacuating 17 victims. Nine were evacuated from a satay stall by the Tim Alfa, and eight in Cijedil by the Bravo Team," Basarnas chief Marsdya TNI Henri Alfiandi said on Friday, November 25.
Henri said this discovery was quite significant because dozens of the victims were found in relatively close time. Moreover, Henri said, the victims were the focus of SAR operations.
The victims found consisted of 11 adult women, two adult men, and four children. They were evacuated to the Cianjur General Hospital for the identification process.
Henri said the team continues to map out the locations, as the victims are buried at varying depths. The rescuer are also faced with intense rain and aftershocks. "The SAR team is trying to unravel the landslide and dismantle the buildings underneath which it is strongly suspected that there are victims," he said.
For the surviving victims currently living in shelters, Basarnas continue to send logistics help using helicopters to areas including Cugenang District, Bunikasih Village, Warung Kondang District, Cikadal Village, Nyalindung Village, Pasir Sapi Village, Mangunkerta District, and Sarampad District.
