One Evacuee Dies in Refugee Camp after Cianjur Earthquake

TEMPO.CO, Cianjur - A victim of the Cianjur earthquake died due to illness in a refugee camp at Lapangan Jagaraksa, Jambudipa Village, Cianjur on Friday, November 25, 2022.
The victim Aan Hasanah, 45, a resident of Warungkondang Village, was sick during the earthquake on Monday, November 21, 2022.
"She was already sick but already better. When the earthquake happened on Monday, my sister's health dropped. She was evacuated to the front yard of a mosque," said Enan, 65, the victim's brother, on Friday, November 25, 2022.
Enan explained that after the quake, the victim took refuge in front of the courtyard of a mosque without tents and others, so her condition deteriorated. The victim was tired and weak. "There was no tent at that time. She was moved to a refugee camp in Jambudipa Village last night," Enan added.
"But with continuous aftershocks, my sister's health kept dropping. This happened for three days," said Enan.
On Thursday afternoon, November 24, her condition worsen and thus she was rushed to the Warungkondang Health Center where she was referred to the Sayang Cianjur Regional General Hospital (RSUD).
"At 5 PM, he was taken to the hospital for only one night because around 3 AM, my sister died which coincidence with a fairly large aftershock,” said Enan.
The victim was then taken to a relative's house in Warungkondang Village and buried at the Ciawitali TPU, Cikaroya Village.
The Cianjur earthquake was quite destructive as it killed 310 people and injured thousands of people as of Friday, November 25, 2022. In addition, 24 people were still missing.
