TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said the country could become a king or a leading nation in the green energy sector, following Saudi Arabia's title which is known as the king of oil in the world.
“I’d emphasize this if Saudi Arabia is the king of fossil fuels, then the next king will be Indonesia, the king of green energy,” Airlangga said when attending the PLN Locomotion 2022 event themed "Building Synergy of Local Content for Indonesia Future Energy" organized by state-owned electricity firm PLNo at JCC, Jakarta, Wednesday, November 23, 2022.
He opined that the world has recognized the potential of Indonesia's green energy. “No single country can beat Indonesia if we are serious and if PLN is serious [in achieving it],” he remarked.
The Minister argued that after the success of holding the G20 Presidency in Bali this month, Indonesia has become the global spotlight.
“Many countries from all over the world appreciate Indonesia and share their commitment to assist Indonesia in economic growth and development, including the development of green energy,” Airlangga concluded.
