Jokowi Visits Earthquake Survivors; Govt Programs to Help Rebuild Cianjur

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Thursday paid a visit to three subregions located at Cianjur, West Java, which is the region most affected by Monday’s magnitude 5.6 earthquake. One of his visits was to the Sukamaju state elementary school which had been shifted to a temporary relief operation site.
The President was accompanied by a number of officials. Minister of PMK, Muhadjir Effendy, Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, Minister of PUPR, Basuki Hadimuljono, and Head of BNPB Suharyanto.
His entourage also distributed food, gloves, clothes, children's toys, and other crucial assistance. Jokowi also guaranteed that renovations to houses and facilities destroyed in the earthquake will be covered by the government.
“There will be a number of assistance programs that will see renovations enacted by the Public Works and Housing Ministry, there will be some assisted by the National Armed Forces, and there will be other independent sources,” said Jokowi at the site.
