TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo in a statement on Thursday announced his second booster vaccination from Indovac, which is Indonesia’s first homegrown coronavirus vaccine produced by domestic pharmaceutical holding Bio Farma.
“The vaccine used this morning was from Indovac. 100 percent domestically made,” the President wrote in his statement on November 24. He also urged people to be at risk of Covid-19 exposure to take a second booster jab.
Presidential secretariate’s office spokesperson Bey Machmudin claims the significance of the vaccine’s side effects is at a minimum and claims Jokowi will immediately conduct daily activities after receiving the vaccine jab.
Unfortunately, neither Jokowi nor Machmudin disclosed Indovac’s efficacy in their statement today.
As of today, Indonesia has rolled out 205 million doses of first-dose vaccines, 172 million second-dose vaccines, and 66 million first booster jabs. Meanwhile, only 730,000 people have taken their second booster vaccination.
