TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The electricity system affected by the earthquake in Cianjur, West Java, has recovered 100 percent, stated Darmawan Prasodjo, executive director of state electricity firm PLN, on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at 23:05 WIB (Western Indonesia Time), about the 1,844 distribution substations and 21 feeders which previously experienced disruption, which had now successfully operated again.
Darmawan said that the electricity supply to 326,028 residents had returned to normal. "Public facilities such as hospitals, roads, Village hall, and several posts for covid volunteers have been restored," said Darmawan in a written statement, Wednesday, November 23, 2022.
The restoration attempt on the electricity system in Cianjur has many obstacles. PLN distribution director, Adi Priyanto, said that the electrical substations within several areas had collapsed and were difficult to access because of the landslide due to the earthquake. However, Adi was grateful that everything was resolved, thanks to the collaboration with various parties.
"By deploying heavy equipment, the blockade from the landslide can be accessed and the joint team could immediately repair the electricity network," said Adi.
Apart from restoring the electricity system, PLN also helped set up emergency tents at the Cianjur Regional General Hospital (RSUD) to accommodate patients and residents whose homes were damaged.
Dozens of medical and logistics personnel also directly provided treatment and assistance. two units of ambulances and one rescue vehicle were also deployed to assist with post-disaster logistics and recovery.
