TEMPO.CO, Cianjur - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo today, November 22, visited the Cugenang road in Cianjur Regency which was severely hit by landslides following the Cianjur earthquake, West Java. The visit was aimed at monitoring the road repairs carried out by the Ministry of Public Works and Housing.
Accompanied by West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil and Army Chief of Staff (Kasad) Dudung Abdurrahman during the visit, the state head demanded Public Works and Housing Minister rebuild the houses of affected residents with earthquake-resistant foundations.
“I ask the minister to repair heavily, moderately, and lightly damaged houses based on anti-seismic standards,” said Jokowi in Cianjur, on Tuesday, November 22, 2022.
He also asked the access to the main road to be opened, “so that people’s mobility can run normally.”
The national road of Cugenang has been cleared today after it was filled with landslide materials. However, it was off-limits to the public, and only emergency vehicles were allowed to pass as the cleaning was still afoot.
“It’s been open since around 4:30 a.m. This morning starting at 6:08 a.m., vehicles can pass it. But it's restricted for the public, only emergency vehicles are allowed to pass,” the Public Works and Housing Ministry official Wilan Oktavian said of the Cianjur earthquake-affected road to Tempo on Tuesday.
