TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An earthquake jolted Jakarta and its vicinity areas on Monday afternoon, November 21, 2022. People in South Tangerang, Bogor, and Bekasi also reported the disaster.
The tremor was said to occur for a few seconds. Some people said it "feels strong" which sent them to panic and run outdoors.
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) released the initial information via its social media that the quake was measured at a magnitude of 5.6 on the Richter Scale. The location of the epicenter is recorded at 6.84 degrees South Latitude and 107.05 degrees East Longitude, or 10 kilometers southwest of Cianjur Regency, West Java.
BMKG confirmed that the earthquake will not trigger a tsunami.
