Jokowi Kick-starts APEC Summit with Bilateral Meetings

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo started the 29th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation or APEC Summit in Bangkok, Thailand, by meeting a number of other state leaders. This morning, he would hold a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of New Zealand at the Bangkok Kimpton Maa-Lai Hotel.
“The President is then scheduled to attend the 29th APEC Economic Leaders Meeting (AELM) which will be held in a retreat format at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok,” as read in the press release by the Presidential Palace, Friday, November 18, 2022.
After meeting the world leaders, Jokowi would take part in the APEC Leaders' Informal Dialogue with invited economic leaders outside of APEC, including French President Emmanuel Macron, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, and Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
“The President will then have a bilateral meeting with the Chief Executive of Hong Kong. He will then join the APEC Leaders' lunch session,” read the press release.
In the afternoon, he would hold a bilateral meeting with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman and then take part in the APEC Leaders Dialogue session with ABAC (APEC Business Advisory Council), and visit the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Exhibition.
As a closing agenda, the President would meet the King of Thailand at the Chakri Maha Prasat Throne Hall before returning to Indonesia via Suvarnabhumi International Airport. The President and the entourage were expected to arrive in the evening.
At this year’s APEC Summit, Jokowi stated that Indonesia's main focus was pushing for an inclusive and sustainable economic recovery.
