TEMPO.CO, Nusa Dua - Chinese President Xi Jinping, arrived in Bali on Monday, November 14, 2022, and was greeted by Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan and Bali Governor I Wayan Koster at the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.
President Xi arrived at around 3:10 PM Central Indonesia Time (WITA) aboard an Air China plane. Xi is initially scheduled to meet with US President Joe Biden and engage in a dialogue with Xi Jinping to address the tense bilateral relations between the two countries.
Both leaders are expected to discuss topics ranging from Taiwan's nuclear ambitions to issues related to Ukraine and North Korea. They both are expected to hold the bilateral meeting in Hotel Mulia at Nusa Dua, Bali.
The White House previously stated that the meeting is unlikely to result in a joint statement, but help stabilizes bilateral relations between Washington and Beijing that have been strained by tensions caused by the trade war and power struggles in the Indo-Pacific.
It is widely reported that the United States is still open to dialogue, regardless of the differences. The White House said Xi and Biden's talks in Bali may take hours.
G20 Summit this time is overshadowed by the global crisis in the food and energy sector, which was triggered by the Russia and Ukraine war. In a number of ministerial-level meetings, several Western countries led by the United States strongly condemned Russia's invasion of Ukraine and its impact on the food and energy crisis.
