TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government has prepared 30 electric buses dubbed the Merah Putih Electric Bus in medium size for the mobility of the G20 summit participants.

The bus will be used to transport the delegations from their arrival at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Denpasar, to Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC) where the conference would be held.

Head of public relations at Land Transportation Directorate General, Pitra Setiawan, said that the 30 buses were already transported to Bali gradually before the peak of the G20 event.

“These buses could not be transported at the same time as the production is also done gradually,” he said in a written statement on Saturday, November 12.

The Merah Putih Electric Bus production is 76.98 percent locally made. It is a collaboration between the SOEs and a consortium of national universities, namely  Airlangga University, Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia Institute of the Arts Denpasar, and Surabaya Institution of Technology.

“The buses had undergone roadworthiness trial in Bekasi, West Java," said Pitra.

In addition, 11 electric buses with medium and large sizes will be provided to support the G20 Presidency in Bali. So, there are 41 fleets in total.

On November 1, the buses underwent trials in Ngurah Rai Airport - Nusa Dua route. There will be two shifts and 60 drivers will operate the buses; 30 drivers in one shift. The bus will operate on November 11-17, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Bali time.

There will also be electric motorcycles in Nusa Dua for free of charge provided by private companies with a total of 90 fleets.

“The electric motorcycle drivers will serve both the delegations and committees of the G20 Summit well," said Pitra.

The service points of the motorbike are at Grand Whiz Hotel, The Westin Resort Nusa Dua/Bali Convention Center (BICC), Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC), Bali Collection, Grand Hyatt Hotel, and Courtyard Hotel By Marriott.
