TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Acting Jakarta Governor Heru Budi Hartono stated that he will continue the Formula E electric car racing event initiated by former governor Anies Baswedan in 2023 and 2024.
“That’s B to B (business to business). It's okay if Jakpro and Ancol want to go ahead with it. go for it,” said Heru during a plenary meeting on the 2023 Regional Budget Draft at the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) building, Wednesday, November 9, 2022.
Heru handed over the continuation of the Jakarta E-Prix at the Ancol Circuit to PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) as the organizer.
Based on the provisional schedule for Season 9 of 2023 Formula E posted by the Formula E International Automotive Federation Instagram account @fiaformulae on Wednesday, June 29, Jakarta will host the event on June 3 and 4, 2023. Season 8, meanwhile, will take place on Saturday, June 4, 2022.
Formula E Jakarta was planned to be held for three seasons in 2022, 2023, and 2024. This is in accordance with the results of the renegotiation of Jakpro with the promoter Formula E Operation (FEO).
Jakpro claimed that the Jakarta Formula E race on June 4, 2022, made a profit totaling Rp6.4 billion. Gunung Kartiko, Jakpro’s director for business, said the total income amounted to Rp137.34 billion. However, the financial statements as of September 30, 2022, have not been audited yet by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK).
