Jakarta BPBD Warns of Flood as Pasar Ikan Watergate at Siaga Status

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) called on the public to stand vigilant to possible flooding because the status of Pasar Ikan watergate in Penjaringan, North Jakarta, was increased to alert level 2 or Siaga. At 6 a.m. today, November 8, 2022, the water level reached 205 centimeters.
Nine areas in North Jakarta have the potential to be affected by flooding, namely Kamal Muara, Kapuk Muara, Penjaringan, Pluit, Ancol, Kamal, Marunda, Cilincing, and Kalibaru.
From 3 to 5 p.m., the status of the floodgate was still on alert level 3 or Waspada as the water level increased by up to 15 centimeters. However, the area saw sunny weather.
The Jakarta BPBD broadcasted the flood warning through social media. The public is asked to reach the Jakarta Siaga 112 call center in an emergency.
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasted that light-intensity rain would shower the capital city today. The maximum tidal height of one meter was estimated at 7 a.m.
The agency also predicted that the air temperature at Tanjung Priok Port, North Jakarta, would range from 26-29 degrees Celsius with the humidity level at 78-90 percent. The sea wave would likely be around 0.1-0.5 meters high and the wind may gust from northeast to southeast between three and eight knots.
In addition to the rising water level at Pasar Ikan watergate, the Jakarta BPBD informed residents to be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds in East Jakarta, West Jakarta, and South Jakarta on Tuesday afternoon and night. Rain was also expected to occur in Depok City, Bogor Regency, and Bogor City in the morning before noon until the evening.
