TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakartans may have a reason to celebrate an astronomical event in the form of Tuesday’s total lunar eclipse or blood moon, which will be observable starting at 17:43 Indonesia Western Time (WIB) coinciding with the moon's rise.
"Broadly speaking, this event can be witnessed by all observers in the territory of Indonesia," said Widya Sawitar, an astronomer at the Jakarta Planetarium and Observatory of the Jakarta Arts Center Taman Ismail Marzuki, Antaranews reported on November 7.
Based on astronomical calculations, Widya continued, the phenomenon will be observable in all regions of Indonesia today starting at 15:02:17 WIB (Western Indonesia Time) to 20:56:08 WIB.
In general, the stages of the total lunar eclipse on Tuesday afternoon are relatively easy to observe, starting at 16:09:12 WIB since the moon enters the main shadow or the earth's umbra (point U1) until 19:49:03 WIB (point U4). or when the moon leaves Earth's umbra.
The eclipse this time, she confirmed, would be a “blood moon” in contrast to the event on May 16, 2021, which was categorized as a “super blood moon” or the one that took place on January 31, 2018, which at the time was a “super blue blood moon.”
