Statistics Indonesia Reveals 5 Sectors Backing Economic Growth in Q3 2022

7 November 2022 16:15 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaStatistics Indonesia (BPS) head Margo Yuwono revealed that there are at least five main sectors supporting the country's economic growth in the third quarter of this year. They are industry, mining, agriculture, trade, and construction.

They respectively contributed 17.88 percent, 13.47 percent, 12.91 percent, 12.74 percent, and 9.45 percent to the national economy.

"In total, the industrial, mining, agricultural, trade, and construction sectors' shares to the GDP in the third quarter [Q3] have reached 66.45 percent. And all of them see year-on-year growth," said Margo at a press conference on Indonesia's Quarter III-2022 Economic Growth which was held virtually on Monday, November 7, 2022.

The agency reported that the national economic development reached 5.72 percent YoY in the third quarter of 2022. Compared to the previous quarter, it grew by 1.81 percent.

"Cumulatively from Q1 to Q3 in 2022 compared to the same period of 2021, the Indonesian economy grew 5.40 percent," he added.

Margo also said that Indonesia’s economic growth in the third quarter was always slower than in the second quarter and considered it a seasonal pattern. However, on a year-on-year basis, he claimed this was getting stronger and heading toward recovery. “In the midst of global uncertainties, we can still maintain our economy,” he concluded.
