TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Acting Jakarta Governor Heru Budi Hartono appealed to Jakarta residents to continue practicing strict health protocols amid an ongoing pandemic, especially after Covid-19 cases in Jakarta have increased again.
"Yes, keep it up. Wear a mask, keep your distance," Heru said after inaugurating the Digital House for Disabilities, Friday, November 4, 2022.
According to data on the development of confirmed cases, the number of total Covid-19 cases in Jakarta has reached 1,452,943 cases with 1,426,549 patients fully recovered.
The recent increase in the number of cases is in line with the discovery of the Omicron XBB subvariant. Previously, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin announced that the new XBB variant entered Indonesia on October 21, 2022.
The first patient infected with Omicron XBB was a 29-year-old woman who had just returned from Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.
