TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - During the Indonesia Motorcycle Show 2022 (IMOS 2022), PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) claimed that the company will be producing electric motorcycles in the next one to two years. PT SIS also stated that they have prepared a roadmap in preparation for the electric vehicle era.

PT SIS 2W Sales & Marketing Department Head Teuku Agha, explained that the model for the electric motorcycle that will be introduced to Indonesia will be produced in Southeast Asia.

"We are following the government's plan [regarding Suzuki's electric motorcycle], so we have made the road map. [The motorcycle] will be made in the next one or two years. We will produce it in ASEAN, it will be an ASEAN model," Agha said at the IMOS 2022 event.

Furthermore, Agha said that Suzuki continues to invest in electric motorcycle production. In addition, the company is still trying to study electrification technology.

"Investments are always there because the technology is different from what it is now. We are using the Internal Combustion Engine [ICE]. Electricity is a different field of science. So now we are studying how to create these products with good quality," Agha concluded.

Also during the event, Suzuki exhibits a new V-Strom SX 250 motorcycle. The adventure touring motorcycle will be sold next year. However, IMOS 2022 visitors can make pre-orders starting this year.
