TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani provided a response to news about mass layoffs, especially in the labor-intensive sector. She assured the public that the State Budget will be used to mitigate the effects of the layoffs.
Sri Mulyani added that the government will utilize what is left in this year's fiscal space. She asserted that government spending in the next two months can be tailored to strengthen the economy.
"Government spending allocation is expected to increase quite rapidly in the last 2 months. This will certainly increase the ability of the economy to withstand turmoil," said Sri Mulyani on Thursday, November 3, 2022.
Sri Mulyani said that the remaining Rp 1,200 trillion state expenditure would be used for the purpose of providing social assistance.
She said that the allocation could take the form of another wage subsidy or other ongoing social assistance programs.
The APBN will also be directed to provide a stimulus to the business climate of various industrial sectors. This stimulus, Sri said, still refers to the programs included in the national economic recovery program (PEN).
