TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) chairman Prasetyo Edi Marsudi questioned the profit of organizing the Formula E electric car race last June as claimed by the event committee Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) since the financial report has not been submitted.
“Is Formula E profitable or not? Please answer,” said Prasetyo in a meeting to discuss the 2023 Jakarta Budget’s priorities and ceiling (KUA-PPAS) on Wednesday night, November 2, 2022.
Prasetyo, who claimed to understand very well the intricacies and prospects of profits that can be obtained by organizing an international racing activity, urged Jakpro to disclose the audit of the event's financial statements. “Where is the profit? Please answer,” he remarked.
He doubted the claimed profit because there was a change in the event’s venue from the city center which offered the racing view from nearby hotels to Ancol. The Monas area had also been revamped, ranging from the trees to the construction of a plaza in Medan Merdeka Selatan.
“Frankly speaking, this is an unprofitable project,” he added.
The chairman of the Jakarta Council’s Budget Board further complained that he was tired of fulfilling the Corruption Eradication Commission’s (KPK) summons because of Formula E. “To be honest, I am tired of being called by the KPK. This issue is under the KPK,” he said.
Reports suggested that KPK had summoned Prasetyo twice as a witness in the alleged corruption case of the Jakarta Formula E.
Meanwhile, Jakpro president director Widi Amanasto said that the financial statements of Formula E are still being audited by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK). “It may be completed within the next month,” he shortly said.
