TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has officially reintroduced the direct flight route connecting Tokyo’s Narita International Airport to Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport on Tuesday, November 1. Garuda’s president director Irfan Setiaputra said this is the company's attempt to optimize access into and from Japan.
“The reopened Narita - Denpasar flight in the future will be developed to optimize the cargo market, especially exports on superior commodities from Indonesia’s Eastern regions and its vicinity,” the president director wrote on November 1.
The inaugural flight on November 1 flew onboard an Airbus A330-GA which carried 150 passengers that departed from Japan at 11:00 local time and landed at Bali’s airport at 18:05 Indonesia Central Time (WITA).
Irfan Setiaputra, Indonesian Deputy Ambassador John Tjahjanto Boestami, Socio-Cultural Information Coordinator Meinarti Fauzie, and Head of the Garuda Indonesia Representative Office in Tokyo Sony Syahlan, were all present at the flight’s reintroduction.
The Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo plans to massively promote the Garuda Indonesia Tokyo-Denpasar flight, considering 2023 will see the Indonesia Friendship Day program which is a promotion of trade, tourism, and investment (Trade, Tourism, and Investment-TTI) up to the Japan Friendship Festival (IJFF) program.
