Jakarta Reopens 44 COVID-19 Vaccination Centers as Pfizer Vaccines Restocked

28 October 2022 23:34 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the epidemiology and immunization surveillance unit at the Jakarta Health Agency, Ngabila Salama, said 44 community health centers or Puskesmas will soon reopen COVID-19 vaccination services as the city has received 34,125 vials of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.

"We are trying to open the service at 9:00 or 10:00 in 44 sub-districts," said Ngabila in a written statement on Friday, October 28, 2022.

Ngabila said that the new vaccine stock arrived at the warehouse of the Jakarta Health Agency on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at 10 PM. Representatives from 44 Puskesmas across the city and PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) were scheduled to take the vaccine Friday morning, October 28, 2022.

That way, vaccination services to the public could be opened no later than Friday prayers at noon. However, the city is trying to accelerate the distribution of the vaccine.

"This morning, [the new vaccine stock] will be taken immediately," she added.

The Jakarta Health Agency previously reported that the stock of COVID-19 vaccines in the city was running low. Based on Tuesday's data, there were only hundreds of vaccine doses left in five health facilities.

Yesterday, the Acting Governor of Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono discussed the stock of COVID-19 vaccines with the Health Minister, Budi Gunadi Sadikin. According to him, the central government would prioritize Jakarta to get additional stock.
