TEMPO.CO, JakartaEdgeConneX, a pioneer in Hyperlocal to global Hyperscale Data Center Solutions, announced that it will expand its presence in Asia by acquiring GTN Data Centers in Indonesia. The acquisition marks EdgeConneX's ninth market in Asia.

Kelvin Fong, EdgeConneX's managing director of Asia Pacific, said the company currently has 19 employees in Indonesia. "But, that number will grow to maybe 40-50," Kevin said in Jakarta, Wednesday, October 26.

Strategically located in Bekasi Cikarang, GTN has operated a Tier-3 certified data center since 2016. GTN was established through a joint venture of Mitsui Japan with a local IT distributor and integrator, PT Multipolar Technology, part of the Indonesian conglomerate Lippo Group.

EdgeConneX has also acquired a plot of land directly adjacent to GTN, which makes it possible to build a future hyperscale data center campus with a capacity of more than 90 MW.

Kevin said that the company has created a roadmap for the Indonesian market, and is now pursuing to improve the operations of its Indonesian staff at GTN.

"We send them to our offices in the USA and Amsterdam for training. When they return, they can help improve the skills of other Indonesian staff; from operations, technicians and engineers," Kevin said.
