Houses Damaged as Ice Hail Strikes Depok City in West Java

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The extreme weather which turned into ice hail happened over Depok City in the West Java province on Sunday, October 9, which caused significant damage to properties, unrooted trees, and damaged electrical powerlines.
Head of the Depok City Fire and Rescue Service’s Disaster Management Division Denny Romulo reported that there were 10 houses damaged by the ice hail in two subdistricts; Sawangan and Bojongsari.
“Four houses were severely damaged while six others sustained moderate damages,” said Denny to Tempo on October 10.
Fortunately, no human casualties no injuries were reported due to this extreme weather anomaly. The Depok City Red Cross branch has also distributed necessary equipment and hygiene kits to the victims of the ice hail.
