Anies Baswedan Congratulates His Future Replacement as Jakarta Governor

8 October 2022 00:12 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan congratulated the head of the Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono who has reportedly been appointed to replace him as the acting governor of Jakarta. Anies Baswedan is set to serve his term as the capital city’s governor until October 16, 2022.

"We believe his experience will be a great [start for his career]," said Anies Baswedan at the ASEAN Station in South Jakarta on Friday, October 7, 2022.

The governor said that he has the utmost trust in President Joko Widodo's decision to appoint Heru Budi Hartono and believed that one of the main considerations is for the good of Jakartans.

"I respect the ongoing process and we are all grateful that those who will be in charge are people who already know about Jakarta," said Anies.

As previously reported, the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) had already submitted three potential candidates to President Joko Widodo to replace Baswedan as Acting Governor of Jakarta. The spokesperson for the Ministry of Home Affairs, Benni Irwan, said the three names were the same as those proposed by the Jakarta Legislative Council or DPRD.
