BMKG Forecasts Thunderstorms in Some Parts of Jakarta

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasts light, moderate-intensity rain up to thunderstorms in some parts of Jakarta this Thursday afternoon and evening, October 6, 2022.

In its weather forecast and warning released today, the agency announces that during the day, West Jakarta will be showered by moderate-intensity rain; Central and North Jakarta will see light rain; while South Jakarta and East Jakarta will be hit by thunderstorms. The weather in the Thousand Islands or Pulau Seribu will be cloudy.

In the afternoon, heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds have the potential to occur in Central, West, South, and East Jakarta. Residents are asked to stay vigilant over the weather changes.

“Be aware of the potential for heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds in Central Jakarta, West Jakarta, South Jakarta, and East Jakarta in the afternoon and evening,” the agency reported in its early warning.

At night, light rain will wet West, Central, South, and East Jakarta. North Jakarta and the Thousand Islands will be cloudy.

In the early hours of Friday, the weather in all Jakarta areas is predicted to be cloudy, except in the Thousand Islands which will be showered by moderate-intensity rain. 

Jakarta's air temperature today ranges from 23 to 30 degrees Celsius with an air humidity of 75 to 95 percent.
