Indonesia Comic Con 2022, First One to be Held After Two Years into the Pandemic

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - After two long years of no face-to-face event, Panorama Media finally held again the biggest pop culture celebration event in the country, the Indonesia Comic Con 2022.

This year's Indonesia Comic Con event was the first to be held after being postponed in 2019 due to the pandemic. The two-day event is now present at JCC (Jakarta Convention Center) Hall B from October 1-2, 2022.

Royanto Handaya, Panorama Media director, said that “Indonesia Comic Con is a celebration event that is always eagerly awaited by tens of thousands of fans of the pop culture world. Grateful not only to the thousands of fans who supported the event this year, but also to the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf), the Creative Economy Movement (Gekraf), and the Jakarta Provincial Government. Looking at the diversity of brands that became our partners in supporting the event, it makes us even more convinced that Indonesia Comic Con is an event that will always be in demand, not only to be loved but also to create (art).”

Andita Tirtawisata, Project Manager for Indonesia Comic Con 2022, stated that "In this 6th year, most of the contents in Indonesia Comic Con are from Indonesian pop culture, one of them is from the Indonesian cinemas. (We) also provide a special area for local artists to showcase their character and products. (...) Indonesia Comic Con also presents renown virtual guest such as Brandon Routh, international cosplayers Knite and Jasper, as well as international comic artist Carlo with the hope of continuing to bring new things to fans and also new insights for Indonesian pop culture.”

Several movie launches are also at Indonesia Comic Con, including Sri Asih from Screenplay Bumilangit, which is based on the fictional character of comic author RA Kosasih, and also Tira, the first live action superhero series from the Bumilangit Cinematic Universe, which will soon be exclusively broadcast on Disney+ Hotstar, and also Qodrat directed by Charles Gozali.

Some of the films that are also campaigning at Indonesia Comic Con are Avatar, Andor, She Hulk, Black Adam, and also Dungeons & Dragons. There are also several product launches, such as Infinix's collaboration with Komik Ga Jelas, Paras Comic mobile app and also Digitalogy."

At the Indonesia Comic Con 2022 event, TikTok Shop is present as the main sponsor to introduce a new way of shopping for various fashion needs of pop culture lovers. Carrying the theme “For Your Fashion”, TikTok Shop wants to support pop culture lovers and fans to find the latest styles and trends through a variety of superior fashion products presented at this event.

This time, Indonesia Comic Con also collaborated with several local NFT players such as NFT Ticketing SerMorpheus and Paras Comic as NFT Marketplace Brand Partners.

For film lovers, Indonesia Comic Con presented virtual guest star Brandon Routh, who played as Clark Kent / Superman in Superman Returns (2006). Production houses such as Screenplay Bumilangit also brings Pevita Pearce and Jefri Nichol. In addition, Disney+ Hotstar with Screenplay Bumilangit also presented a row of cast and filmmakers from the Tira series, such as Joko Anwar who is the producer of this series, Zahir Omar as the director, Chelsea Islan as Tira, as well as other actors, and finally there is Qodrat which will star Marsha Timothy and also Vino G. Bastian.

For cosplayer lovers, Indonesia Comic Con 2022 presented two international cosplayers: Knite and Jasper, and there's also Echow from Indonesia. In addition to the guests, Indonesia Comic Con created a special zone for cosplayers who will participate in the main stage of Indonesia Comic Con.

For VTuber lovers, Indonesia Comic Con presented two well-known VTubers from Hololive Indonesia, Kobo and Moona, and several other VTubers from different agencies such as Crystella, Mythia Batford, and Ghosty.

For comic lovers, Indonesia Comic presented a CGC from the Philippines, and also international comic artist Carlo Pagulayan. Not only that, comic artists such as Ario Anindito, Alti Firmansyah, and Sweta Kartika will draw live on the main stage of Indonesia Comic Con.

For music lovers, Indonesia Comic Con presented the Shojo Complex and also collaborated with KaijuBop by bringing DJ Throoper x Angel's Percussion which enliven the event, where fans of Indonesia Comic Con can enjoy the music of pop culture world in the "After Dark."

Indonesia Comic Con ticket price for pre-sale is Rp75,000 per day for regulars, while the normal price for regular tickets is Rp125,000 per day, Rp200,000 per two days. Also available for VIP Cosplayers at Rp200,000 and also Super VIP at Rp1,000,000 which can be accessed for 2 days. Pre-sale, VIP Cosplayer and Super VIP purchases are only available at SerMorpheus, for regular tickets per day, per two days and regular tickets for cosplayers (Rp100,000 per day) can be purchased through Loket.com, Gotix, Tokopedia, Shopee and Blibli.
