TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Regional Secretary Marullah Matali confirmed that the city government led by Anies Baswedan decided to rationalize the construction target of the zero down payment housing program as stated in the Regional Development Plan (RPD) 2023-2026.
“This construction will continue to run. I say it (the target) is not lowered, it's rationalized,” said Marulli after attending an event at Jakarta’s Aryaduta Hotel, Wednesday, September 28, 2022.
In the 2023-2026 RPD, the target for the project construction that involves regional-owned enterprises, state-owned enterprises, and the private sector is set at 9,081 units, lower than the previous target noted in the 2017-2022 Jakarta Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) of 232,214 units.
Governor Anies had submitted a draft amendment so that the target is reduced to 10,460 units. However, the Jakarta Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) decided not to discuss the draft.
Marullah said that the target rationalization was needed because the city could not achieve the initial target. During the two-year COVID-19 pandemic, he argued, the provincial government could not build zero down payment housing.
“It's not that we didn't do it at all. We were not able to do anything in those two years because of COVID-19,” said Marullah, who is a candidate for the acting governor of the capital.
Anies Baswedan lowered the target for the construction of the zero DP housing program with the issuance of Governor Regulation No. 25 of 2022 on the regional development plans (RPD) 2023-2026 which was signed on June 10, 2022.
