TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The weather forecast from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) on Wednesday warns that the NORU tropical cyclone - detected over the South China Sea - will likely cause rainfall over a number of Indonesian regions.
The cyclone’s wind speed was detected to reach a maximum of 85 knots or 155 km/h with a minimum air pressure of 950 mb moving away from Indonesian areas.
Tropical Cyclone NORU's intensity is expected to weaken in the next 24 hours and move westward. The cyclone may lead to heavy rains in Aceh, North Sumatra, Riau, West Sumatra, South Sumatra, Jambi, and Bengkulu. In addition, it also has an impact on high sea waves (2.5-4 meters) in the North Natuna Sea, north of Sabang Island.
The regions that are expected to experience rain on a moderate scale are Ternate and Medan. Light rain is likely to occur in Serang, Bengkulu, Gorontalo, Jambi, Bandung, Pontianak, Banjarmasin, Samarinda, Tarakan, Tanjung Pinang, Kupang, Pekanbaru, Mamuju, Kendari, Manado and Padang.
The air temperature ranges from 19-34°C with the lowest temperature in Bandung, while the highest temperature is in Semarang and Surabaya.
