7 People Examined following Explosion in Sukoharjo Police Dorm

TEMPO.CO, Solo - Central Java Police have launched an investigation on seven people following the explosion which occurred near the Arumbara Police Dormitory in Sukoharjo Regency on Sunday, September 25, 2022.
Chief Brigadier Dirgantara Pradipta Sukoco was hurt during the incident. As of Monday, September 26, 2022, Pradipta is still undergoing intensive treatment at Dr. Moewardi Hospital in Solo for suffering serious injuries.
"The seven people are the courier [of the explosive package], the recipient [of the package], two persons who helped the victims, and one resident," said Central Java Police Chief Inspector General Ahmad Luthfi in a press conference via Zoom on Monday, September 26, 2022.
The police, however, have not named any suspect. "The witnesses (the courier and the package recipients) are being secured for questioning as witnesses," Luthfi added.
Luthfi said that as of Monday afternoon, Chief Brigadier Pradipta remains unable to be questioned because of his poor condition. "He suffers 30 percent burn injuries, particularly on the face and legs," Luthfi said.
Previous reports suggested that the explosion came from a package loaded with black powder believed to be material used to fuel fireworks. Luthfi confirmed that the incident was not an act of terrorists.
Acting Chief of Solo Police Sr. Comr. Alfian Nurrizal made a similar statement. Based on the doctor’s report, the victim could possibly suffer a broken bone in his left leg due to the explosion near the police dormitory suffered a broken bone in his left leg. "Please pray for our members to recover soon," he said.
