BMKG Extends High Waves Alert in Several Indonesian Waters

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has again issued an early warning of high waves that potentially occur in several Indonesian waters on Friday-Saturday, September 23-24, 2022.
Surging waves, about 4-6 meters, are forecasted in the western waters of the Enggano Islands - Lampung to the West Indian Ocean. The tidal is also said to have the opportunity to rip apart the waters of the western and southern parts of Sunda Strait. The same alert had been issued the day before.
The agency also mentioned that the southern waters of Banten to West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), the southern part of the Bali - Alas - Lombok Strait, and the Indian Ocean south of Java - NTB have the potential to see very high tidal.
Additionally, the agency predicted that rain accompanied by lightning will hit Bengkulu. Medan will see heavy rain. And moderate-intensity rain will shower Bandung, Pontianak, Banjarmasin, Tarakan, Tanjung Pinang, and Mataram.
BMKG also predicted that the country’s air temperature will range between 19 and 33 degrees Celsius with the lowest temperature in Bandung and the highest in Banda Aceh, Gorontalo, Semarang, Surabaya, Pontianak, Kupang, Makassar, and Medan.
