TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan and the president director of city market operator Pasar Jaya Tri Prasetyo inaugurated four traditional markets after being revamped on Thursday, September 22, 2022.
The four markets are Cipinang Kebembem Market, West Sawah Market in East Jakarta, Tanah Tinggi Poncol Market in Central Jakarta, and West Tebet Market in South Jakarta.
Anies hoped that the revitalized markets would help improve the welfare of Jakarta's people.
“We are grateful that today we can witness the completion of a great work, a better market, which has a very large impact on improving welfare, for economic transactions,” he said during the inauguration in Cipinang Kebembem Market, East Jakarta, Thursday.
He also hoped that the markets could guarantee the people's basic needs, both in terms of supply and price.
“Food is a basic need of the community, so ensuring that food supply is well guaranteed and prices are stable is what every family in Jakarta needs,” said the former education program.
Meanwhile, Tri Prasetyo said the four traditional markets are part of the company’s market revamp programs over the past five years. These markets are now equipped with multi-purpose rooms that could be used for various activities including sports, such as badminton and mini soccer or futsal.
