TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned electricity company PLN of Greater Jakarta Distribution Unit encouraged the public to use electricity in an orderly fashion to prevent fire which is primarily caused by a short circuit.
“By using electricity orderly, people help to maintain a commitment to prioritize human safety,” said PLN of Greater Jakarta Distribution Unit head Doddy B Pangaribuan in a written statement in Jakarta, Sunday, September 18, 2022.
The company, he added, is committed to maintaining the reliability of electric power to customers' homes by upholding the principle of electricity safety. It also conducts routine inspections of the electricity network.
“An abnormality in the kWh or electricity meter is dangerous and has the potential to cause fire, so please [use electricity] orderly,” Doddy underlined.
To avoid electrical hazards, PLN shares tips for customers to orderly use electricity, as follows:
- Do not tamper with the electricity meter installed at customers' houses;
- Do not take electricity directly from the pole;
- Contact PLN through the PLN Mobile application when you need additional electricity either temporarily or permanently;
- Contact PLN in the PLN Mobile app when there is an electrical problem;
- Ensure that there are no electrical problems related to the kWh meter or payment issues before buying or renting a house; and
- Contact an electrical technician via PLN Mobile on its feature ListriQu when there is an electrical problem in the house.
“If there is an electrical issue, do not report it to PLN, but to electrical technicians via PLN Mobile, ListriQu feature,” said Doddy.
