TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - West Jakarta Police thwarted a distribution of 304 kilograms of marijuana in the Sumatra-Java network. Four perpetrators were arrested in the drug smuggling attempt.
“The four suspects act as couriers, the dealer promised them a Rp150 million fee,” said West Jakarta Police Chief Sr. Coms. Pasma Royce in a written statement Friday, Sept. 16.
The authorities named them suspects, they are HS, 28 years old, FV (32), YH (28), and NF 29. In addition to marijuana, the police also seized one Toyota Cayla car, cellular phones of the perpetrators, and sharp weapon kept in the car, as pieces of evidence.
The case was first revealed on September 3 at East Sumatra Highway, Ketapang, South Lampung, when the police stopped one of the trucks delivering 20 tons of vegetables to Jakarta.
The officers suspected marijuana was tucked in among other items in the truck. "It was true that eight sacks of marijuana were found piled with vegetables which were secured by two delivery couriers HS and EP," said Pasma.
The police team developed the investigation until they found that HS and EP worked under dealer AG, who is listed as a fugitive (DPO). Both couriers were ordered to deliver the marijuana to Jakarta.
According to Pasma, the police arrested YH and MF when they arrived in Poris, Tangerang. They were allegedly about to pick up the delivery from HS and EP. “From the arrest, [it was found that] the couriers were ordered by the fugitives MC and SM (the dealer) who promised them a Rp60 million fee if they manage to deliver [the illicit drug],” the police remarked.
