TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Anies Baswedan was reportedly to be in Singapore today, September 14, 2022. Yesterday, the Jakarta Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) officially announced the end of his office term as Indonesia’s capital governor.
Anies visited Singapore as a Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellow until September 15, 2022. The Singapore Government handed him an award for his contribution to the country’s development and bilateral relations between the two countries.
“On behalf of Indonesia and Jakarta, thank you for this honor,” said Anies on his personal Instagram account @aniesbaswedan in Jakarta, Wednesday, along with a photo of him receiving the award as the 72nd Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellow.
“This fellowship is a big responsibility. We hope to continue the collaboration to strengthen ties between the two countries and with Jakarta, in particular,” he remarked.
As reported by Antara, Anies was scheduled to meet Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Foreign Affairs Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, Transportation Minister S Iswaran, and other state officials, according to Singapore’s press statement.
Anies Bawedan was also scheduled to deliver the S.T. Lee Distinguished Lecture at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.
