TEMPO.CO, Depok - Head of the National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN) Hinsa Siburian confirmed that some data disclosed by a hacker, known by username Bjorka, who leaked President Joko Widodo’s documents and letters as well as ministers’ personal data, were valid. The agency obtained the findings after they carried out a digital forensic and validation process on the breached data.
“I'm not saying all of them are invalid, but some are valid,” said Hinsa at his office in Sawangan, Depok, West Java, Tuesday, September 13, 2022. However, he emphasized that data have their classification and validity period which determine whether or not they are important.
Previously reported, Bjorka posted presidential documents and letters, including from the Intelligence Agency (BIN), between 2019-2021 to an online forum breached.to which then went viral on social media.
The hacker also claimed to have pocketed 679,180 documents and several of them have been disclosed.
Hinsa refused to further detail the source of the leak and handed the issue to Presidential Secretariat Head Heru Budi Hartono. “I think it has been answered by State Secretariat,” he said.
According to him, poor cyber security could occur due to human negligence and a vulnerable digital system.
When Bjorka first disclosed the data leak, Presidential Secretariat Head Heru Budi Hartono denied that top-secret documents and letters addressed to President Jokowi were leaked by the hacker. “No letter was hacked,” he said on September 10, 2022. “However, those hacking attempts violate the law.”
