TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Secretary General of the Organization of Land Transportation Owners (Organda) Ateng Haryono asked the Transportation Ministry to increase the economy class of Jakarta-based intercity and interprovincial (AKAP) bus tariffs by 40 percent. The increase applies to two route division zones, namely Java - Sumatra and non-Java - Sumatra.
“We have said that a 40 percent hike is a reasonable calculation,” said Ateng when contacted on Wednesday, September 7, 2022.
The Transportation Ministry regulates the upper limit tariff and lower limit tariff for economy class land transportation. Ateng stated that the AKAP bus limit fare had not been revised since 2016.
Meanwhile, in the last six years, there have been price changes that have burdened the operating costs of bus operators. Recently, entrepreneurs are burdened by rising fuel prices.
“So, we think that 40 percent hike is able to cover all cost components,” he added.
The Transportation Ministry will reportedly announce the price adjustment of AKAP fares this afternoon, Wednesday, September 7, 2022. In addition to the bus tariff, the government will also publish the new tariffs for online motorcycle taxis or online ojek.
