TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Six presidential palaces of Indonesia have officially obtained the Renewable Energy Certificate from state-owned electricity giant PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN). This indicates that the electricity channeling to the palaces is 100 percent sourced from renewable energy-based power plants or green energy.
“It's 100 percent,” said Presidential Secretariat Head Heru Budi Hartono during the certificate handover ceremony at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, September 6, 2022.
The six palaces are the Jakarta State Palace and Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, Bogor Palace and Cipanas Palace in West Java, Yogyakarta Palace, and Tampaksiring Palace in Bali.
PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo officially handed over the certificates to each representative of the palace management.
PLN also symbolically handed over 35 electric-powered motors to be operated in the Presidential Palace area. Heru said Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station or SPKLU could possibly be constructed in the palace areas.
Darmawan expressed his joy that the Presidential Palaces joined the effort in tackling climate change by switching to green energy so that today, the electricity flowing to the palaces is guaranteed to produce zero percent carbon emissions.
“For example, the electricity of these palaces (State Palace and Merdeka Palace) comes from the Geothermal Power Plant in Kamojang [Bandung Regency, West Java],” Darmawan said.
