Indonesian Govt Officially Increases Fuel Prices, Pertalite Sold at Rp10,000 per Liter

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi, along with his ministries, officially announced the fuel prices hike on Saturday, September 3, at the Merdeka Palace. The prices of Pertalite, Pertamax, and Solar (diesel) fuels officially increased as of 14:30 Jakarta time today.
"Currently the government has to make decisions in a difficult situation. This is the government's last option, which is to divert fuel subsidies," said Jokowi during the fuel prices hike announcement at the Merdeka Palace, Saturday, Sept. 3.
Meanwhile, the minister of Energy and Mineral Resource Arifin Tasrif detailed the increase in fuel prices as the following:
1. Pertalite price increases from Rp7,650 per liter to Rp10,000 per liter
2. Subsidized Solar fuel from Rp5,150 per liter to Rp6,800 per liter
3. Non-subsidized Pertamax from Rp12,500 to Rp14,500 per liter
"This applies one hour after the announcement of the price adjustment, so it will take effect at 14:30," Arifin remarked.
