TEMPO.CO, Colombo - Former Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who left the country on July 13 amid anti-government protests, returned to Sri Lanka on Friday night, September 2, local media reported.
Footage from local TV channels showed Rajapaksa arriving at the airport amid heavy security presence.
He was received by several parliamentarians of the ruling party Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna.
Rajapaksa arrived in Sri Lanka via Singapore from Thailand.
