TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo launched the Alsintan Taxi program initiated by the Agriculture Ministry to help provide agricultural tools and machinery independently for farmers by business actors in the agricultural sector.
The provision of tools and machines is carried out through the micro-credit program (KUR). The President hoped that it could replace previous unproductive patterns and approaches.
“I think there will be many farmers in villages, provinces, and regencies who want to buy agricultural tools and machines, such as rice mill units (RMU), dryers, combine harvesters, tractors, and so on with this program,” he said in Gresik, East Java, as quoted from a press release, Monday, August 22, 2022.
Director General of Agricultural Infrastructure and Facilities, Ali Jamil, explained that the Alsintan Taxi program is the ministry’s innovation to reduce the burden of the State Budget and train farmers' independence.
“This program is directly related to the micro-credit program (KUR) so that farmers can be more independent,” said Ali.
Ali also said President Jokowi and Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo called for the independence of farmers in carrying out agricultural development in the future. Therefore, the government also launched a food estate program to boost national production.
