TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An alleged sexual crime has once again happened in the environment of Islamic boarding schools or pesantren. This time, the reports came from a female student at a school in the Bandung Regency, West Java.
Head of Bandung Police, Commissioner Kusworo Wibowo, said that police are investigating the sexual abuse case at the pesantren. There were two victims in this molestation case which started in 2015.
“From our information, there are two victims and we have the identities of others who are witnesses. But these are witnesses who listened to the stories from the victims,” said Kusworo on August 16, Antaranews reported.
He assured that police are proactively approaching the victims and will work to reveal the truth. Kusworo said that the alleged perpetrator no longer lives in the environment of the pesantren and the school’s leader frequently moves to other areas.
"But when these two pieces of evidence are sufficient, then we will determine the suspect, and call the person concerned," he said.
Previously, the attorney for the female students claimed the sexual crime happened to several students, even reaching a dozen in number. The Islamic boarding school is located in Gandasari Village, West Bandung Regency, West Java.
