TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said that the capital city of Jakarta can change the life of the people. Many people come to Jakarta to work and change their life.
"Jakarta is the escalator that improves the welfare of the millions of people," he said Wednesday, August 17, during the ceremony for the 77th anniversary of Indonesian Independence Day held by the city government at the south plaza of the National Monument, Central Jakarta.
Anies was the inspector of the ceremony and all of Jakarta officials attended the event.
According to the governor, the changing fate of people who migrate to Jakarta is one example of the republic's contribution to its citizens. He, therefore, reminded the people to realize that they have a debt of grattiute to the country.
One way to return the favor to the country according to Anies Baswedan's version is to work in their respective fields for the betterment of the republic.
"This is our responsibility and we take care of that responsibility as well as possible," explained the former Minister of Education and Culture.
